The conference, chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan (President of the Wound Management Association of Ho Chi Minh City), featured five distinguished speakers: Prof. Dr. Jos M.G.A. Schols (Professor of Community Geriatrics, Maastricht University, The Netherlands), Dr. Tran Doan Dao (Vice President of the Wound Management Association of Ho Chi Minh City), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Tung (Scientific Director, EMCAS Plastic Surgery Hospital), Dr. Vo Tuan Khoa (Head of Endocrinology Department, People’s Hospital 115), and Dr. Le Huu Phuoc (Department of Burns and Reconstructive Surgery, Children’s Hospital 1).

The conference was further distinguished by the esteemed presence of notable delegates, including Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hai (Viet Han International Cosmetic Institute), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hanh (President of the Vietnamese Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery), Dr. Nguyen Phan Tu Dung (Director of JW Korea Plastic Hospital), Dr. Le Hai, Dr. Phan Thi Hong Vinh (Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine), and Dr. Le Ton Dung (Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Aesthetics and Internal Medicine).

Chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, the conference successfully included five keynote presentations, followed by an engaging discussion session between experts and doctors.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan – President of the Wound Management Association of Ho Chi Minh City delivered an opening speech.

In the opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan highlighted the growing importance of wound care, emphasizing that it is not only an essential aspect of modern medicine but also a rapidly evolving field, offering a diverse range of effective treatment methods.

Prof. Dr. Jos M.G.A. Schols, Professor of Community Geriatrics at Maastricht University, Netherlands, began the conference with an impressive presentation on the topic “Care of Chronic Wounds; Overall Strategies in EU Countries, Explained by the Example of Pressure Ulcer/Injury Treatment Strategies.” The presentation garnered significant interest from delegates, experts, and doctors in the field. Prof. Dr. Schols outlined the fundamental principles and key factors in managing chronic wounds, especially pressure ulcers in the elderly.

Prof. Dr. Schols further emphasized the importance of creating an optimal wound environment to promote healing, particularly for pressure ulcers in the elderly, a key factor in accelerating the healing process. Prof. Dr. Schols also highlighted WOUND Spray as a highly effective solution for managing chronic ulcers. Formulated with Neem oil and Hypericum oil, WOUND Spray helps maintain a moist environment and supports efficient wound healing.

Following this, Dr. Tran Doan Dao delivered an insightful presentation on the role of fatty acids in acute wound care, particularly in maintaining a moist environment and preventing infection. Dr. Tran Doan Dao explained that WOUND, containing five types of fatty acids derived from Neem oil and Hypericum oil, not only forms a protective barrier over the wound but also boasts strong antibacterial properties, supporting the healing process while being non-cytotoxic.

Dr. Vo Tuan Khoa, Head of the Endocrinology Department at People’s Hospital 115, presented on the “Application of Neem oil and Hypericum oil (WOUND) in the Treatment of Hard-to-Heal Chronic Ulcers in Diabetic Patients.” Through clinical case studies, Dr. Khoa demonstrated the efficacy of WOUND in promoting granulation tissue formation, preventing infection, and accelerating wound healing when compared to conventional treatment methods. He also emphasized the advantage of WOUND’s ease of use, allowing patients to self-administer treatment at home, thereby saving both time and costs.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Tung, Scientific Director of EMCAS Plastic Surgery Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, presented his research on “Evaluation of the Outcomes of Neem Oil and Hypericum Oil (WOUND) in Reducing Abnormal Scarring after Breast Augmentation and Breast Reduction.” This study explored the use of WOUND in the early stages following breast augmentation surgery, showing that the scars of patients using WOUND after 60 days were comparable to those treated by conventional methods after six months, showcasing the superior effectiveness of WOUND in reducing scars and enhancing aesthetic outcomes.

Dr. Le Huu Phuoc, from the Department of Burns and Reconstructive Surgery at Children’s Hospital 1, concluded the scientific session with a highly relevant topic: “Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Medical Honey Dressing (DerMel Wound Dressing) in the Treatment of Pediatric Wound Infections.” Dr. Phuoc explained the strong antibacterial properties of medical honey (DerMel Wound Dressing), which works through an osmotic mechanism. The high sugar content and the enzyme Glucose oxidase in medical honey help activate the breakdown of glucose into Gluconic acid and Hydrogen peroxide, maintaining a low pH that inhibits bacterial growth while providing effective antibacterial action. Clinical case results revealed that medical honey not only helps cleanse the wound but also reduces pain and improves cosmetic outcomes, making it an effective solution for antibiotic-resistant infected wounds.

Following the five scientific presentations, a highly interactive discussion session took place, where experts, delegates, and doctors shared valuable experiences and engaged in insightful discussions. The enthusiastic participation underscored the widespread interest in wound care and the critical roles of Neem oil, Hypericum oil (WOUND Spray), and medical-grade honey (DerMel Wound Dressing) in wound treatment.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hanh, President of the Vietnam Association of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery, highly appreciates WOUND for its effectiveness in infection control, accelerating wound healing, and minimizing the formation of unsightly scars following cosmetic procedures.
The speakers, delegates and doctors had a very lively discussion session.
Dr. Phan Thi Hong Vinh – Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, also shared the results of a study that evaluates the healing effect and cosmetic result of the wounds after surgeries between 30 patients in the experimental group and 30 patients in the control group (not using WOUND).

The session underscored a significant focus on advanced wound treatment methodologies, particularly emphasizing the therapeutic roles of Neem oil, Hypericum oil (WOUND Spray), and Medical-grade honey (DerMel Wound Dressing) in promoting wound healing.

Under the chairmanship of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan and with the active involvement of over 200 invited doctors, the conference was an overwhelming success. The presentations and insights shared by the experts played a vital role in enriching the doctors’ knowledge of wound care protocols and effective scar management. Emphasizing the roles of WOUND, DerMel Wound Dressing, DerMel Skin Ointment, BAPSCARCARE, and ALHYDRAN in the treatment and care of various types of wounds, the conference successfully provided a platform for advancing wound care practices.

Mr. Trinh Kim Hoa of DTP MEDICAL and Dr. Rob Hollweg of BAP MEDICAL presented a commemorative bouquet and Certificates of Appreciation to the Conference Chairman, Speakers, and our Delegate, in heartfelt recognition of their invaluable contributions to the resounding success of the event.
