Prof.Dr. Jos Schols/Maastricht University Chaired a Virtual Meeting with Vietnamese Wound Care Experts for Scientific Article Project relating to WOUND – A Novel Film-Forming Wound Dressing

On November 16, 2023, Prof.Dr. Jos M.G.A. Schols, professor of Community Geriatrics, Maastricht University, the Netherlands, chaired a virtual meeting with two experts in the field of wound care in Vietnam: Dr.Tran Doan Dao – Former Head of the Burns and Plastic Surgery Department at Cho Ray Hospital, Vice President of Wound Management Association of Ho Chi Minh City and Dr. Vo Tuan Khoa – Head of Endocrinology Department of People Hospital 115, Secretary-General of the Wound Management Association of Ho Chi Minh City.

This online meeting was also attended by DTP MEDICAL – the exclusive distributor of WOUND in Vietnam and BAP MEDICAL/Netherlands – the product owner, including PhD Rob Hollweg (CEO), Ms. Linda Schef (Medical Information Manager), PhD.Dr. Jacques Neyens (Senior Researcher) and Mr. Samson Soon (Pharmacist – Product Specialist).

Vietnamese leading experts in wound care and representatives of BAP MEDICAL were discussing about a scientific article on the effectiveness of WOUND application on acute and chronic wounds in Vietnam.
Dr. Tran Doan Dao (middle) and Dr. Vo Tuan Khoa (right) were presenting the ideas with Prof. Jos Schols

The meeting took place as an open dialogue to exchange and transfer clinical experience along with opportunities for cooperation in the field of wound care.

Playing a chairing role of the meeting, Prof.Dr. Jos Schols emphasized the importance of the collaboration decision to write a scientific article regarding the efficacy of WOUND on both acute and chronic wounds in Vietnam. Prof.Dr. Jos Schols, Dr. Tran Doan Dao and Dr. Vo Tuan Khoa will perform the research for this publication. Experts will use WOUND on patients with acute and chronic wounds to evaluate WOUND spray as a simple and standardized wound care protocol that accelerates the healing process, increases the quality of wound healing and reduces the overall treatment cost of wound care in the long term.

In the meeting, experts have also shared the real assessments of the state of wound care in Vietnam. Along with that, there is an effort to further standardize wound care protocol using WOUND film-forming technology while simultaneously bringing product closer to more patients.

Dr. Vo Tuan Khoa also presented two case studies involving WOUND application on diabetic patients. Dr. Vo Tuan Khoa has greatly appreciated WOUND to heal the different types of wounds. The oil film of WOUND creates a moist wound environment, which speeds up healing and impressively decreases the risk of infection. WOUND, in particular, can be used to treat many types of wounds including acute wounds, chronic wounds, hard-to-heal wounds, superficial wounds, deep wounds…

This professional meeting not only brings opportunities for sharing the clinical experience but strengthens a collaborative commitment between DTP MEDICAL and BAP MEDICAL, and more importantly, this is a positive indicator for the strategic development of WOUND in Vietnam.
