Product Presentation at Unit Of Breast/Cho Ray Hospital with Topic: “Simplifying Wound Care, Scar Management from Non-Epithelialized Stage and Skin Recovery after Radiotherapy”

On October 27, 2023, at the Unit of Breast – Oncology Center, Cho Ray Hospital, through a presentation with the topic “Simplifying wound care, managing scars from non-epithelialized stage and skin recovery after radiotherapy”,  DTP Medical had the opportunity to bring the doctors, nurses, and patients  the advanced solutions that contribute to improving the patient’s quality of life during hospital treatment and after discharge: WOUND – Novel Film-forming Wound Dressing; BAPSCARCARE – Scar management from the early stage with Silicone therapy –  ALHYDRAN Barrier Repair Care – Clinically proven formula for intensive skin recovery after radiotherapy.

WOUND is a patented and CE-certified film-forming technology from Switzerland. With the special combination with synergistic effects of the two natural oils: Neem and St. John’s Wort, WOUND is considered a comprehensive and “all in one” solution that helps form a oil film on the wound surface, preventing water loss from the wound  due to the hydrophobic nature of the oil. By reducing water loss, WOUND creates a moist wound environment, which accelerates the healing process and induces impressive granulation tissue. At the same time, WOUND protects the wound bed and wound edge from maceration, reducing the possibility of surgical wound infection without causing cytotoxic side effects that inhibit the body’s physiological healing process.

Infection is one of the most common complications after cancer surgery. And breast cancer treatment is no exception. Therefore, it is extremely necessary to take careful care of the wound to control infection and help the healing process go smoothly. And WOUND is considered an optimal solution to solve this problem due to its strong antibacterial effect.

In addition, WOUND has been clinically proven to reduce the healing time by nearly 50%, so this film-forming technology will also help minimize abnormal scar formation, bringing satisfactory aesthetic results.

The cancer surgery  will more or less leave scars. BAPSCARCARE, a new-generation  silicone therapy, helps flatten, soften and fade scars. Medical silicone in BAPSCARCARE will regenerate the properties of the stratum corneum to prevent dehydration at the incision site, thereby minimizing the formation of hypertrophic scars and keloid scars.

BAPSCARCARE includes silicone gel and silicone sheet with a variety of sizes and specialized shapes to manage scars in the most convenient and optimal way.

The Unit of Breast highly appreciates BAPSCARCARE Gel 20g because of its soft and quick-drying gel, especially suitable for large scars after breast cancer surgery. In addition, BAPSCARCARE S silicone sheet with dimensions of 5x20cm/15x20cm or the silicone sheet with specialized shapes (Keyhole, Nipple) are also of special interest because of their suitability and convenience of use (they can be washed and reused for 4-6 weeks).

Dermatitis caused by radiation therapy is one of unintended consequences with symptoms including dry skin, redness,  itching, burning, peeling, blistering, and even bleeding. This not only causes pain and discomfort for the patients but  also has an impact on healing since radiation therapy must be temporarily discontinued if the skin becomes too inflamed.

ALHYDRAN Barrier Repair Care, an clinically proven formula for intensive skin recovery, is designed to instantly soothe the skin while deeply hydrating the skin and repairing the skin barrier damaged by radiation.

With the strong and long-lasting moisturizing ability of more than 45% pure  and fresh Aloe Vera Aruba Gel, combined with other specialized ingredients such as Beta-Glucan, Bisabolol and Allantoin, ALHYDRAN Barrier Repair Care helps restore the damaged skin cells as well as nurture the healthy skin from within. ALHYDRAN Barrier Repair Care is easily absorbed into the skin so no additional cleaning is required before the next radiotherapy sessions.

The presentation also highlighted the benefits of ALHYDRAN Barrier Repair Care, especially clinical studies to prove its effectiveness and safety  on patients after radiotherapy, burn wounds,…

According to Prof.Dr. Huynh Quang Khanh, Head of the Unit of Breast, the wound after cancer surgery and the damaged skin after radiotherapy are large in size, which greatly affects the patient’s psychological health. Therefore, doctors are also looking for solutions to help simplify wound care and bring both physical and psychological comfort after surgery to patients.

With the attendance of nearly 20 doctors and nurses working at the Unit of Breast and questions surrounding WOUND – BAPSCARCARE – ALHYDRAN Barrier Repair Care, the product presentation has  opened up many opportunities for cooperation between DTP MEDICAL and the Unit of Breast – Cho Ray Hospital. The final purpose is to bring a novel solution to simplify wound care, improve aesthetic results and recover the skin after radiotherapy, all of which contribute to improving the patient’s quality of life during and after discharge from the hospital.
