DTP Medical and EMCAS Plastic Surgery Hospital have cooperated in research on “Evaluate the effectiveness of Neem oil & Hypericum oil (WOUND) in limiting abnormal scarring right after breast augmentation and breast reduction surgery”.
This is a prospective monocentric study conducted by Assoc.Prof Nguyen Dinh Tung, MD.PhD et al. at EMCAS Plastic Surgery Hospital, on 30 women undergoing breast augmentation and breast reduction surgery from April 2024 to September 2024.
The study was conducted by Assoc.Prof Nguyen Dinh Tung, MD.PhD – Scientific Director of EMCAS Plastic Surgery Hospital, aiming to evaluate the clinical efficacy of WOUND in early scar management.
The study was successfully reported by Assoc.Prof Nguyen Dinh Tung, MD.PhD (Scientific Director of EMCAS Plastic Surgey Hospital) at the Scientific Conference and Continuing Medical Education organized by DTP MEDICAL in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Wound Management Association on October 5, 2024 with the participation of more than 200 doctors and experts.

🔹 Purpose
To evaluate the clinical efficacy of Neem oil and Hypericum oil (WOUND) in limiting scars right after breast augmentation and breast reduction surgery.
Neem oil & Hypericum oil (WOUND) was applied as soon as the incision was closed and was followed up for 60 days. The effectiveness was evaluated using the Vancouver Scar Scale, Scar-Q, and Breast-Q.
🔹 Methods
– Patients were selected to participate in the study.
– Using Neem oil & Hypericum oil (WOUND) as soon as closing the incision.
– Follow up to 60 days.
– Using the “Vancouver Scar Scale”, “Scar- Q” to measure the scar quality and “Breast-Q” questionnaires to determine the satisfaction of breast.
Vancouver Scar Scale results: Parameters of color, height, pliability, and scar surface showed significant improvement.
Scar-Q results: Patients after breast augmentation and breast reduction surgery reported significantly less itching, pain, and discomfort when using Neem oil & Hypericum oil (WOUND).
Breast-Q results: Scars of breast augmentation and breast reduction surgery to be match as plan with a high score of satisfaction.
🔹 Conclusion
Patients with scars of breast augmentation and breast reduction surgery when using Neem oil & Hypericum oil (WOUND) in 60 days could be comparable to whom without using Neem oil & Hypericum oil (WOUND) in 6 months. Scars of breast augmentation and breast reduction surgery to be match as plan with a high score of satisfaction.
Assoc.Prof Nguyen Dinh Tung, MD.PhD concluded that scars from breast augmentation and breast reduction surgery using Neem oil & Hypericum oil (WOUND) after 60 days could be comparable to scars after 6 months without using WOUND.
